A Visit to Lokayan Vidhyalaya : Shri Pratulbhai Shroff in an interactive exchange with the teachers and the students.

Shri Pratulbhai visited Lokayan Vidhyalaya

Be it children or teacher, everyone needs encouragement which enhances their moral and efficiency. With this purpose in view, Dr. K. R. Shroff Foundation quarterly awards its Field Coordinators for their outstanding performance based on a holistic assessment. In December 2023, Mr. Pratulbhai Shroff, Founder Trustee of the Institute, during his field visit, met the award winning teachers of Sabarkantha and Aravalli districts to encourage them.

He visited Lokayan Vidyalaya-Malasa, where the secondary section award Winner Akashbhai Prajapati is working. Pratulbhai was welcomed by the President and Secretary of Lokayan Shikshan Sanstha. Pratulbhai discussed many issues related to education with the school faculty and villagers. Pratulbhai assembled the children in a circular formation, discussed their goals with them and guided them for their future journey. He shared his views and vision of school to move forward from where it is. During the conversation, he also came to know about dedication of the teachers and what school gained from the teachers appointed by the foundation.

When Akashbhai was appointed, the school's results in math and science were around 30%. This was a matter of concern for Akashbhai. He contacted the parents after learning that the children were erratic. Teachers try their best but they are handicapped. Meaning, they come to school from their own villages and go back after school (up and down). So, teachers do not have enough time to contact parents because parents also go to work during school hours. Campaigns like Mission Vidya and Time- Donation are conducted in primary schools. However, as this programs are not conducted in secondary schools, children who are weak at the primary level stay weak at the secondary level as well. Once kids fail, they drop out from school and join the labor force. Despite the situation, due to the dedication towards children and hard work of a sensitive teacher like Akashbhai, the school attained 75% result. He remained constantly engaged and active with the children whether it was recess or after school hours. 

School launched Bridge Course for weak children. First, students of class 10 completed the course of class 9. Along with teaching, he conducts various experiments and innovations with the aim of developing scientific outlook in children. For this, he uses various TLMs and videos to make learning interesting and more kid-friendly. He adopts new learning activities, techniques and methods that provide fun to children. He conducts continuous and comprehensive evaluation. He makes special efforts to educate children based on practical experiences. He also explained to the parents that after 10th grade, children can pursue various courses in ITI and get remunerative employment. He emphasized peer learning in the classroom. He dealt with children based on their attitude, likes and dislikes, skills, arts, qualities and abilities. He satisfies the curiosity of the children along with increasing their persuasiveness. Nurturing cultural values, the children were explained that knowledge always grows by sharing. So, if you teach another child what you know, your knowledge will also be further strengthened. Seeking help of other school teachers, he contacted the donors of the village and encouraged the children by awarding them prizes.

બાળકો હોય કે શિક્ષક, પ્રત્યેકને પ્રોત્સાહનની જરૂર છે જે તેનું મનોબળ અને કાર્યક્ષમતા વધારે છે. આ હેતુથી ડૉ. કે. આર. શ્રોફ ફાઉન્ડેશન પોતાના ફિલ્ડ કો.ઓર્ડીનેટર્સને તેમની શ્રેષ્ઠ કામગીરી માટે એક સર્વગ્રાહી મૂલ્યાંકનના આધારે ત્રિમાસિક એવોર્ડ આપે છે. ડીસેમ્બર’૨૦૨૩ માં સંસ્થાના ફાઉન્ડર ટ્રસ્ટી શ્રી પ્રતુલભાઈ શ્રોફે તેમની ફિલ્ડ વિઝીટ દરમ્યાન આવા શિક્ષકોને પ્રોત્સાહિત કરવા એવોર્ડ મેળવેલ સાબરકાંઠા અને અરવલ્લી જિલ્લાના શિક્ષકો સાથે મુલાકાત કરી. 

તેમણે માધ્યમિક વિભાગમાંથી એવોર્ડ વિજેતા આકાશભાઈ પ્રજાપતિની શાળા લોકાયન વિદ્યાલય મલાસાની મુલાકાત લીધી. લોકાયન શિક્ષણ સંસ્થાના પ્રમુખશ્રી અને મંત્રીશ્રીએ પ્રતુલભાઈને આવકાર્યા. શાળા પરિવાર અને ગ્રામજનો સાથે પ્રતુલભાઈએ શિક્ષણને લગતા અનેક મુદ્દાઓની ચર્ચા કરી. પ્રતુલભાઈએ બાળકોને ગોળાકારમાં બેસાડી તેમની સાથે તેમના લક્ષ્યની ચર્ચા કરી તેમને ભાવી પથ અંગે માર્ગદર્શન આપ્યુ. શિક્ષકો સાથે તેઓએ શાળાને આગળ લઈ જવાના વિઝનની ચર્ચા કરી. ચર્ચા દરમ્યાન તેમને ફાઉન્ડેશન દ્વારા નિયુક્ત શિક્ષકની ઉપલબ્ધી અને સમર્પણની પણ જાણકારી મળી.

આકાશભાઈની નિમણુંક થઈ ત્યારે શાળાનું પરિણામ ગણિત અને વિજ્ઞાનમાં ૩૦% ની આસપાસ હતું. આકાશ માટે આ ચિંતાનો વિષય હતો. બાળકો અનિયમિત છે તેવું જાણવા મળતાં તેમણે વાલીસમ્પર્ક કર્યો. શિક્ષકો પ્રયત્ન કરે પણ અપડાઉન કરે એટલે તેમને શાળા સમયમાં મજૂરીએ જતા વાલીનો સંપર્ક ન થાય. પ્રાથમિક શાળાઓમાં મિશન વિદ્યા અને સમયદાન જેવા અભિયાન ચાલે પણ માધ્યમિક શાળાઓમાં આવું ન હોવાથી પ્રાથમિક સ્તરે કમજોર રહી ગયેલ બાળકો માધ્યમિક સ્તરે પણ કમજોર જ રહે. નાપાસ થતાં ડ્રોપઆઉટ થઈ મજુરીમાં લાગી જાય. આ પરિસ્થિતિમાં આકાશભાઈ જેવા સંવેદનશીલ શિક્ષકની બાળકો પ્રત્યેની સમર્પિતતા અને મહેનતથી શાળાનું પરિણામ ૭૫% સુધી પહોંચ્યું. તેઓ રિશેષનો સમય હોય કે શાળા છૂટ્યા પછીનો સમય સતત બાળકો સાથે સક્રિય રહ્યા. નબળા બાળકો માટે બ્રીજકોર્સ ચાલુ કર્યો. દશમાના વિદ્યાર્થીઓને પ્રથમ નવમા ધોરણનો કોર્સ પૂરો કરાવ્યો. ભણાવવાની સાથે તેમણે બાળકોમાં વૈજ્ઞાનિક દ્રષ્ટિકોણ વિકસે તે હેતુથી વિવિધ પ્રયોગો અને નવાચાર કરાવ્યા. તેમણે વિવિધ TLM અને વિડીયોનો ઉપયોગ કરી શિક્ષણને રસપ્રદ અને બાળકેન્દ્રી બનાવ્યું. બાળકોને મજા આવે તેવી શીખવવાની પ્રવિધિઓ, પ્રયુક્તિઓ અને પદ્ધતિઓ અપનાવી. સતત અને સર્વગ્રાહી મૂલ્યાંકન કરતા રહ્યા. તેઓ બાળકોને વ્યાવહારિક અનુભવોને આધારે શિક્ષણ આપવામાં વિશેષ પ્રયત્નશીલ રહ્યા. તેમણે વાલીઓને દશમા પછી બાળકો ITI માં વિવિધ કોર્સ કરી રોજગારી મેળવી શકે તે પણ સમજાવ્યું.

વર્ગખંડમાં સહપાઠી શિક્ષણ પર ભાર મુક્યો. તેઓ બાળકોની પ્રકૃતિ, ગમા-અણગમા, કૌશલ્ય, કળા, ગુણો અને ક્ષમતાના આધારે તેમની સાથે કામ લેતા. તેઓ બાળકોની પ્રત્યાયન ક્ષમતા વધારવાની સાથે જીજ્ઞાસા સંતોષતા. સંસ્કાર સિંચન અંતર્ગત બાળકોને સમજાવ્યું કે જ્ઞાન વહેંચવાથી વધે છે એટલે તમે બીજા બાળકને તમને જે આવડે છે તે શીખવશો તો તમારું જ્ઞાન પણ દ્રઢ થશે. તેમણે શાળાના શિક્ષકોની મદદથી ગામના દાતાઓનો સંપર્ક કરી બાળકોને ઈનામ આપી પ્રોત્સાહિત કર્યા.
