Where does knowledge come from?

Some say by reading a book, some say by observing the events happening around us, some say by travelling. Everyone speaks from their own experience.

We also try to teach students in different ways from personal experiences, in a way teaching new things

which they were not previously exposed to.

We can always learn more if we go to a new environment. Knowing that, we decided to do an

experiment for students to learn about environmental issues from each other. We selected 10 teachers from 10 schools and 25 children from 8 schools, who were interested in the environment.

Food nutrition experiment

Teachers were from Dr. K. R. Shroff Foundation who work as supplementary teachers in government schools. We discussed with them what the environment is and what factors are affecting it. Then students themselves chose the topics for which parameters were discussed and decided to act accordingly.

We went with these students to Voravav Primary School in Idar Taluka of Sabarkantha. Foundation

activists Gopalbhai, Nishaben, Bhupendrabhai, KRSF supplementary 10 teachers were also especially present. Voravav school teachers were also present and they enthusiastically welcomed the students from different schools and encouraged them to do environmental activities. Children did various experiments/activities on seeds, disease, water, historical places, scientists, leaves, health, food

nutrition, space and satellite, human body structure, natural & synthetic fertilizers, animal world,

introduction to ATM model.

The children of class 1 to 8 of Voravav Primary School observed the environment project activity

exhibition. The children had a lot of fun and also gave their feedback at the end. This is how children's confidence, curiosity widens and enhances by doing different activities in different environment.

પર્યાવરણથી ઘેરાયેલ: વોરાવાવ પ્રાથમિક શાળામાં વિદ્યાર્થીઓ દ્વારા વિવિધ પ્રવૃત્તિઓ અને પ્રયોગોનું પ્રદર્શન

જ્ઞાન ક્યાંથી મળે? 

કોઈ કહે વાંચવાથી એટલે કે પુસ્તકમાંથી તો કોઈ કહેશે આપણી આસપાસમાં બનતી ઘટનાઓનું નિદર્શન કરવાથી તો કોઈ કહેશે ફરવાથી. દરેક પોતપોતાના અનુભવથી વાત કરશે..

અમે પણ અનુભવોના ભાથામાંથી જ વિદ્યાર્થીઓને જુદી જુદી રીતે જ્ઞાન પીરસવાનું આમ તો નવું નવું શીખવવાનું કરીએ. 

નવા વાતાવરણમાં જઈએ તો વધારે શીખી શકાય. એ અમે જાણીયે એટલે અમે એક પ્રયોગ પર્યાવરણલક્ષી વાતો વિદ્યાર્થીઓ એકબીજા પાસેથી શીખે એ માટે કરવાનું નક્કી કર્યું.

ડો.કે.આર.શ્રોફ ફાઉન્ડેશનના શિક્ષકો જે સરકારી શાળાઓમાં પૂરક શિક્ષકની ભૂમિકા ભજવે છે, એમાંથી 10 શાળાઓના 10 શિક્ષકો અને 8 શાળાઓમાંથી પર્યાવરણમાં રસ રુચી ધરાવતા 25 બાળકોને અમે માર્ગદર્શન થકી પસંદ કર્યા. એમની સાથે પર્યાવરણ એટલે શું?,ક્યા ક્યા પરિબળોનો એમાં સમાવેશ થાય એની ચર્ચા કરીને પછી વિદ્યાર્થીઓએ પોત પોતાની રીતે વિષયો પસંદ કર્યા જેના વિષે ચર્ચા કરી એને અનુલક્ષીને પ્રવૃતિ કરવાનું નક્કી કર્યું.

આ વિદ્યાર્થીઓ સાથે અમે પહોંચ્યા સાબરકાંઠાના ઈડર તાલુકાની વોરાવાવ પ્રાથમિક શાળામાં. જ્યાં ફાઉન્ડેશનના કાર્યકર્તા ગોપાલભાઈ, નિશાબેન, ભૂપેન્દ્રભાઈ, KRSF પૂરક 10 શિક્ષકો ખાસ હાજર રહ્યા, સાથે વોરાવાવ શાળાના શિક્ષકો પણ હાજર રહી ઉત્સાહપૂર્વક જુદી જુદી શાળામાંથી આવેલા વિદ્યાર્થીને આવકાર્યા ને તેમને પર્યાવરણલક્ષી પ્રવૃતિઓ કરવા પ્રોત્સાહીત કર્યા.

બાળકોએ બીજ, રોગ, પાણી, ઐતિહાસિક સ્થળો, વૈજ્ઞાનિકો, પર્ણપોથી, સ્વાસ્થ, ફૂડ ન્યુટ્રિશન, અવકાશ અને સેટેલાઇટ, શરીર રચના, કુદરતી -કૃત્રિમ ખાતર, પ્રાણીઓની દુનિયા,ATM મોડેલ પરિચય વિષયો પર પ્રવૃત્તિઓ કરી. પર્યાવરણ પ્રોજેક્ટ પ્રવૃત્તિ પ્રદર્શન વોરાવાવ પ્રાથમિક શાળાના ધોરણ 1 થી 8 ના બાળકોએ નિહાળી, જેમાં બાળકોને ખુબ મજા પડી અને અંતે પોતાના ફિડબેક પણ આપ્યા.

આમ,જુદા પરીસરમાં જઈને પ્રવૃતિઓ કરવાથી બાળકોનો આત્મવિશ્વાસ, જિજ્ઞાસાવૃતી પણ વધી.
