Sometimes we think, why do we have to arrange such a program? The reason is all this was a part of our valuable cultural tradition. When students used to study in Gurukul, they learned and understood the importance of Guru in their lives. Respect and obedience for parents is ever there in our society! But the time has changed and along with it somewhere the sentiments also have changed.

However, we believe that what is bad for the society should be discarded but what is good should be carried forward as a valuable tradition.

That is the reason, Guru Vandana program was held in 21 schools with the presence of parents in

Sabarkantha and Aravalli districts, where Dr. K. R. Shroff Foundation has placed additional teachers. This Vandana program is organized by the foundation every year, specially to instill cultural values in children. On this day, the students studying in these schools, who performed well in the examination and secured the first rank, were honored by their parents and teachers. Children's parents also enthusiastically participated in the program.

Thus, the purpose behind organizing this program is that, the parents, especially the child's mother,

come to the school, to see, feel and understand how far their child has progressed. This program to

માતૃ-પિતૃ અને ગુરુવંદનાનો કાર્યક્રમ..

ક્યારેક થાય, આવા કાર્યક્રમ કેમ કરવા પડે? 

આ બધુ તો આપણી સંસ્કૃતિ-પરંપરાનો હિસ્સો હતું જ. ગુરુકુળોમાં વિદ્યાર્થીઓ ભણવા જતા ત્યાં ગુરુનું મહત્વ શું એ બરાબર સમજતા, શીખતા ને માતા - પિતા માટે પૂજ્યભાવ તો હોય જ.

પણ ખેર સમય બદલાયો એની સાથે ભાવનાઓ પણ બદલાઈ.

સમાજ માટે જે ખરાબ છે એ વિસરાય એ ચાલે, પણ સારુ તો પરંપરા બની આગળ ધપવું જોઈએ એવું અમે માનીયે.

એટલે ડો. કે. આર. શ્રોફ ફાઉન્ડેશને જે શાળાઓમાં પુરક શિક્ષક મુક્યા છે તેમાંની સાબરકાંઠા અને અરવલ્લી જિલ્લાની 21 શાળાઓમાં, માતા- પિતા સહિત ગુરુવંદનાનો કાર્યક્રમ યોજ્યો. ફાઉન્ડેશન દ્વારા આ વંદના કાર્યક્રમ ખાસ બાળકો પ્રોત્સાહીત થાય તે માટે દર વર્ષે આયોજીત કરવામાં આવે છે. 

આ દિવસે આ શાળાઓમાં ભણતા વિદ્યાર્થીઓ કે જેમણે પરિક્ષામાં ઉત્તમ પ્રદર્શન કરી શાળામાં પ્રથમ ક્રમ મેળવ્યો તેમનું સન્માન માતાપિતા અને ગુરુજનો હાથે કરવામાં આવ્યું. કાર્યક્રમમાં બાળકોના વાલીઓ-

એ પણ ઉત્સાહભેર ભાગ લીધો. આમ તો વાલીઓ એમાંય ખાસ કરીને બાળકની માતા, શાળામાં આવે ને પોતાનું બાળક કેટલે પહોંચ્યું તે સમજે, જુએ તે આ કાર્યક્રમ શરૃ કરવા પાછળનો ઉદેશ્ય છે. 

જેમનું આપણા જીવનમાં મહત્વ છે તેવા વ્યક્તિઓ પ્રત્યે કૃતજ્ઞતા ભાવ વ્યક્ત કરવાનો આ કાર્યક્રમ બધી જ શાળાઓમાં સુખરૃપ ઊજવાયો...
