The health worker understood.
“Every Wednesday a doctor comes to Kharel,” she said, “but you don’t need to go. We will speak to him on video call from your home. Tomorrow I will collect the medicines from Shivarinmal. Mix them quietly into his meals.”

ગામડાંના ઘરોમાં આરોગ્યનો દીવો
નાની દાબદર નામના એક નાના ગામમાં રમેશભાઈ ગાવિત રહેતા હતા. એક દિવસ તેમના ગામમાં AAA+ પ્રોજેક્ટમાંથી એક આરોગ્ય કાર્યકર એક ભાઈને લઈને આવ્યા. તેમણે ગામના લોકોને ભેગા કરીને એક સભા કરી અને કોઈ અજાણી બીમારી વિશે માહિતી આપી, બધાને સમજાવ્યું. રમેશભાઈએ બધું ધ્યાનથી સાંભળ્યું, પણ ત્યારે કંઈ પૂછ્યું નહીં. એ જ સાંજે રમેશભાઈ તે આરોગ્ય કાર્યકરબેનના ઘરે ગયા અને તેમને વાત કરી. તેમણે કહ્યું કે, “તમે આજે મીટિંગમાં જે બીમારીના લક્ષણો જણાવ્યા, એવું જ વર્તન મારો નાનો ભાઈ કરે છે. તે બધા સાથે લડે છે, કોઈ કામ કરતો નથી, આખો દિવસ સૂતો રહે છે, નાહવા-ધોવાનું પણ ધ્યાન નથી રાખતો અને નાની વાતમાં ગુસ્સે થઈ જાય છે. એટલે મારે તેની દવા શરૂ કરાવવી છે, પણ મારા ભાઈને ખબર ન પડે તે રીતે બધું કરવું પડશે.” આરોગ્ય કાર્યકરબેને તરત જ કહ્યું, “દર બુધવારે ખારેલમાં ડોક્ટર આવે છે, પણ આપણે ત્યાં જવાની જરૂર નથી. આપણે ઘરેથી જ વિડીયો કોલ કરીને ડોક્ટર સાથે વાત કરી લઈશું. પછી બીજા દિવસે શિવારીમાળ આવીને દવા લઈ જવાની અને તમારા ભાઈને ખબર ન પડે તે રીતે જમવામાં આપી દેવાની.” જે રીતે નક્કી કર્યું હતું, એ જ રીતે બધું થયું. શરૂઆતમાં રમેશભાઈનો ભાઈ જમવામાં દવા લેવાની આનાકાની કરતો હતો, પણ રમેશભાઈએ હિંમત ન હારી અને પ્રયત્નો ચાલુ રાખ્યા. તેઓ નિયમિત રીતે દવા આપતા રહ્યા. આજે તેમના ભાઈના વર્તનમાં ઘણો સુધારો આવ્યો છે. હવે તે ઘરમાં બધા સાથે હળીમળીને રહે છે અને બધા કામ પણ કરે છે. રમેશભાઈ કે.આર. શ્રોફ ફાઉન્ડેશન અને ખારેલ સંસ્થાનો ખૂબ ખૂબ આભાર માને છે, કારણ કે તેઓ તેમના જેવા દૂરના ગામોમાં AAA+ જેવા આરોગ્ય અને વિકાસના પ્રોજેક્ટ ચલાવે છે અને તેમને સુવિધાઓ પૂરી પાડે છે. ઓછા પૈસામાં દવા મળી, જેના કારણે આજે તેમનો ભાઈ જીતેન્દ્ર સારો થઈ શક્યો છે.
બીજી બાજુ, મહારાષ્ટ્રની રાધિકાબેન (નામ બદલ્યું છે), જેને બે વર્ષની એક નાની દીકરી પણ હતી. તેમને ગર્ભાશયના મુખમાં ગાંઠ હોવાથી ઘણી તકલીફ થતી હતી અને સંબંધ બાંધવામાં પણ મુશ્કેલી આવતી હતી. બીજી કોઈ હોસ્પિટલમાં દવાથી તેમને કોઈ ફરક પડ્યો ન હતો. તેમના પતિ તેમની સાથે ઝઘડો અને મારામારી કરતા હતા, તેથી તેમના માસી તેમને પોતાના ઘરે ડાંગમાં લઈ આવ્યા હતા. એક દિવસ સંસ્થાના AAA+ પ્રોજેક્ટમાં કામ કરનાર આરોગ્ય કાર્યકર તેમને મળ્યા અને શિવારીમાળ ગામમાં દર ગુરુવારે ખારેલથી સ્ત્રી રોગ નિષ્ણાત ડોક્ટર આવે છે, તેમને બતાવવાની સલાહ આપી.
રાધિકાબેનના માસી તેમને ગુરુવારે શિવારીમાળ લઈ ગયા અને ત્યાં તપાસ કરાવી. રાધિકાબેનને વધુ સારવાર માટે ખારેલ હોસ્પિટલમાં બોલાવવામાં આવ્યા. ખારેલમાં બીજી તપાસ પછી નાનું ઓપરેશન કરવાની જરૂર જણાતી હતી. પરંતુ રાધિકાબેન માટે ઓપરેશનનો ખર્ચો કોણ કરે? તેમના પતિ તો તેમની સાથે વાત પણ કરતા ન હતા અને કોઈ ફોન પણ કરતા ન હતા. રાધિકાબેન પાસે આયુષ્માન કાર્ડ પણ ન હતું. તેથી ખારેલ હોસ્પિટલમાંથી રાધિકાબેનની બધી સારવાર મફતમાં કરવામાં આવી. રાધિકાબેન સાજા થઈ ગયા. હવે તેમને કોઈ તકલીફ નથી. તેમના પતિ સાથે પણ તેમના સંબંધો સુધરી ગયા.
